Chapter Philanthropy

One of Sigma Kappa's values is service, so our chapter strives to uphold that value by volunteering on our campus and in our community. Sigma Kappa Gamma Gamma provides many opportunities for our members to get involved through service projects and philanthropic giving. We participate in service projects through Indiana State University including Donaghy Day (our campus wide service day), stop-n-serve projects, and campus blood drives. Our chapter also actively participates in and donates to other Greek organization's philanthropies, as well.

Each spring semester, Sigma Kappa holds philanthropy events for the Sigma Kappa Foundation and Inherit the Earth. We host a Spaghetti Dinner for the public, for the Ultra Violet campaign. Our Ultra Violet event raises funds and awareness for the Sigma Kappa Foundation. To raise awareness for Inherit the Earth, we devote a week in April to our Recycling Wars competition. Each sorority receives a bin and is encouraged to recycle throughout the week, to see who can recycle the most!

Each fall semester, Sigma Kappa holds another philanthropy event for the Ultra Violet campaign. For this event, we host a Sigma Stacks all-you-can-eat pancake dinner at our chapter house for the campus and community.

Our chapter also participates in the "Walk to End Alzheimer's", a walk that is held annually to support the Alzheimer's Association. We attend the walk in Indianapolis, Indiana each fall. We also volunteer at the walk held in Terre Haute, Indiana. In Fall 2019, we raised over $12,000 that was donated to the Alzheimer's Association, and we hope to increase our goal each year!

We also enjoy volunteering at local nursing homes in Terre Haute, as a chapter, to support our other philanthropy Gerontology. We volunteer at events hosted by the nursing home such as sweetheart dinners and bingo nights. Our chapter also donates to the Maine Seacoast Mission by sending items and gift cards each semester.
